Six Things to Do in SoMo on April 6th

Spring is finally here and it has brought a lot of blue skies and beautiful weather to South Mobile County! With the longer days full of beauty it is easy to understand why Spring is the busiest time in South Mobile County. In fact, if you are looking for a way to enjoy the first weekend in April we have six things that you cannot miss out on, on April 6th.

  1. The Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is gearing up to host their annual open house for the public at Discovery Day 2019. This will be the perfect opportunity to truly understand Dauphin Island’s coastal ecosystem, as well as, why it’s important to conserve our unique environment.
  2. After Discovery Day 2019, walk a few feet and enjoy the white sandy beaches of Dauphin Island. This will be the perfect way to get the R/R you are looking for, as well as, understand the importance of the work that the Dauphin Island Sea Lab is doing.
  3. Once, you have caught enough rays on the beaches you may start to get hungry. Do not worry, Dauphin Island has you covered from local seafood to the best sweet treats – these restaurants are sure to pleas!.
  4. As a perfect ending to your day enjoy a symphony by the beach! Instead of the beautiful sounds of the waves that most visitors of Dauphin Island enjoy, the Mobile Pops will be playing a free concert at the town’s water tower starting at 6:00 pm.
  5. If you aren’t interested in basking in the sun at the beach, then Bellingrath Gardens and Home has the perfect reason for you to visit. The Gardens will be hosting their 26th Annual Camellia Classic Open Car Show. Come enjoy a display of hundreds of vintage and classic automobiles, all proceeds go to Feeding the Gulf Coast.
  6. If the car show does not “rev your engines” enough, then maybe a Saturday Night at the Races will. The Mobile International Speedway will be gearing up for their second race of the season with four racing classes!

The fun doesn’t stop after this busy weekend, the spring and summer are busy times in South Mobile County . If you miss any of these events there will be plenty of “catch up” to do in the next few months.
